O&K Integrated Farms and Agro Ventures began with two people, one dream, and a season the world will never forget.
Having just graduated from an agricultural school and completed our National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2019, the two founders were looking forward to starting their careers. Like many young graduates, we were hopeful about securing jobs and beginning the next chapter of our lives.
Then the pandemic happened and the world slowed to a halt under the weight of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Opportunities became limited and uncertainty grew, but we decided not to sit back and wait. Instead, we turned to what we knew best: AGRICULTURE. We chose to invest in something that would always matter: FOOD.
We started the journey with a small piece of land cultivating leafy vegetables, local maize and cassava. At the time, we weren't thinking about building a company. We simply wanted to grow fresh, cheap food and make it available to the people around us.
When harvest time came, we carried our produce through our neighbourhood and sold directly to our neighbours. They were happy to have access to fresh, locally grown produce at affordable farm-gate prices amidst the lockdown. Knowing that we were helping families put fresh food on their tables during such a difficult period gave us a deep sense of fulfilment.
This gave us the confidence to keep going and to dream bigger.
Season after season, our little farm grew, not just in size, but in purpose. Even after the pandemic ended, our passion for farming only grew stronger. What started as a small neighbourhood initiative gradually evolved into something much bigger than we had ever imagined.
Today, O&K Integrated Farms and Agro Ventures is evolving into an integrated agribusiness committed to producing premium vegetables, supplying high-quality, trusted agricultural inputs, and providing agronomy, farm management, extension services, and agricultural consultancy that help farmers become more productive and profitable.
Although our vision has grown far beyond the street where it all began, we have never forgotten our roots. Every harvest reminds us of where we started, every customer reminds us why we continue, and every new season inspires us to keep growing.
What began with a small piece of land, a few rows of crops, and neighbours who believed in us has become a mission to improve food security, empower farmers, and build a more sustainable agricultural future.
